IndustryWeek’s “Manufacturing Market Forces” Podcast Features Discussion on Response Management

Ottawa, Canada, October 9, 2007IndustryWeek (IW) recently conducted a podcast interview with Stephen Hochman, research director at AMR Research, to answer the question asked in his May 2007 research report, “Response Management: Next Wave of Supply Chain Innovation?” In the 15-minute podcast, Brad Kenney, writer and editor of IW magazine and host of IW’s “Market Forces” Podcast, explores this new category of supply chain software to understand where Response Management can fill a solution gap and what business problems it solves.

Within the podcast discussion, Response Management is compared to medical triage, whereby in the face of crisis, those on the front line must react quickly, setting action priorities and making compromises to accomplish goals in distressed situations. In the context of global supply and fulfillment networks, as the battlefield gets more precarious, Response Management can empower front line decision makers to rapidly respond to constant changes in demand, supply and product.

With a Response Management capability, Manufacturing and Fulfillment teams are equipped with multi-enterprise visibility and collaboration tools to reach quick resolution when faced with constant volatility.

Described in the podcast as the glue that connects disparate data systems within an extended enterprise, a Response Management solution provides a holistic view of operations and active data to conduct real-time “what-if” simulations in response to ever-present change.
